A huge thank you to Kate Edwards for inviting me to speak on her panel at Wondercon this year. The panel was made up of a wide variety of industry professionals, discussing the obstacles and different paths to get into the games industry. We introduced ourselves and our stories, as well as answered a few questions prepared by Kate, before opening up to the floor for Q&A for the rest of the session. This definitely goes down as another bucket list achieved, and was surprisingly less stressful and nerve-wrecking than I thought it would be, having stage fright. Would definitely do it again!
It’s amazing to me that when I started writing this blog, I was a student in Australia clinging on to the hope that I could get into any games studio, big or small, at all. Now I am writing posts about talking as a public figure at a globally renowned convention, of which Hollywood actors, famous comic illustrators, and celebrity figures which people line up to get autographs for, also attend. I wouldn’t have guess this transition would be possible in under 10 years, so I have to pinch myself sometimes.
